New Castle County Fire Service Installation Banquet

The Annual New Castle County Fire Service Installation Banquet was held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Belvedere Fire Company, Station 30.
The meeting was called to order by Firefighters President Eric Haley, a moment of silence was held. The meeting was recessed for dinner that was provided by the Belvedere Fire Company. A rising vote of thanks was given to the Belvedere Fire Company for a delicious meal.
The meeting was reconvened by President Haley and he introduced Firefighters 1st Vice President Sharonda Spencer who introduced the Master of Ceremonies, DVFA President Tom DiCristofaro. President DiCristofaro gave his opening remarks and turned the program over to both President Haley and Chiefs President Kevin Cowpertwait for their Year End Reports. Standing ovations were given to both Presidents for their guidance and leadership the last year.
The program was turned over the New Castle County Communications Assistant Chief Bill Streets who along with President Cowpertwait recognized John H. Farrell IV with the Annual Kenneth R. Greenfield Memorial Dispatcher of the Year Award.
Assistant Chief Street and Firefighters President Haley then recognized Elise N. Snell with the Annual Edith "Bunny" Wilson Memorial Call Operator of the Year Award.
Chief President Cowpertwait recognized Wally Poppe with his Presidents Award for his work with the New Castle County Special Operations Teams.
The Annual Louis J. Amabili Memorial Firefighter of the Year Award was presented to Chief Emeritus David P. Roser of the Hockessin Fire Company by Firefighters Association President Haley. Chief Roser is a 65-year-old member, serving as a Fire Chief in 1973 taking over from his father until 2003, spanning 30 years. He was recognized with the title of Chief Emeritus in 2004 by his fire company.
Rich Rodriguez then presented the Annual Harold "Sonny' Wilkins Memorial Longevity Award to Joe Mullens of the Good Will of New Castle Fire Company. Joe has been a member for over 50 years and served as Deputy Chief for many years and was recognized with the title of Deputy Chief Emeritus.
The installation of Officers was done by DVFA President DiCristofaro for both Associations. The passing of the gavels was completed, and President DiCristofaro offered his closing remarks with the Benediction completed by DVFA Executive Jay Jones.
50-50 was won by Bill Streets who donated his winnings back to both Associations.
A rising vote of thanks was given to the Belvedere Fire Company and the dates for the next meeting were announced:

County Association on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Station 19, Hockessin Fire Company
