2015 Delaware State EMS Association Philip S. Young Lifetime Achievement Award

Congratulations to EMS Chief Dave Chillas of the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown for being recognized with the 2015 Delaware State EMS Associations Philip S. Young Lifetime Achievement Award.
Quoting the Volunteer Hose Companies photo story, "Dave has long exemplified a level of commitment to the Emergency Medical Services. Dave has over fifty years of service to the profession and has served in a leadership role for the majority of those years. He has, and continues to be, a model and inspiration in his service to the profession.
Dave currently holds the posititon of EMS Chief, a position he has held consecutively since 1999. In addtion, Dave has previously held the positions of 1st Assistant Chief, Board of Director, Captain 2 and Deputy Chief. Dave has been an active member and in addition to his role as EMS Chief, he has and continues to serve on several committees including Planning & Review, Fire Protection, Banquet, By-Laws, Fund Drive, Employee Benefits, Paid Personnel, Bereavement, Fitness, Budget, File Archives and Hepatitis B. Dave previously held the office of President of New Castle County Fire Chief's Association. Dave is commited to public service and was even appointed to the position of New Castle County Director of Public Safety. Dave's hard work and dedication has earned him several awards including Fireman of the Year, Top Fire Respnder, Top EMS Responder and EMS Person of the Year.
Since Volunteer Hose Company reentered the ambulance service in 1997, Dave has volunteered to provide coverage and he continues to respond to incidents even if he is not on crew at the time. Dave was instrumental in the development and success of VHC of Middletown's ambulance service. Dave has and continues to recruit and develop new members. He has continued to take responsibility for the training of EMS personnel, paid and volunteers. Dave is patient and is always working with members to further development both professionally and personally. He is well respected by his superiors, peers and subordinates."
