NCCVFA Poster and Essay Awards Banquet - Station 11 - Brandywine Hundred Fire Company

New Castle County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association held their annual Poster and Essay Awards Banquet on November 21, 2010 at Brandywine Hundred Fire Co. Mike Rush was the Master of Ceremony and was at the top of his game for the day. Vincent Jacono and Grover Ingle presented the awards to all of the winners. 13 companies had winners from their local fire district including the city of Wilmington. All the NCCVFA top officers were present and the NCCVFA Fire Chief’s president, NCCFVA Fire Police president, NCCFVA Ambulance president, and NCCVFA Ladies President were in attendance for the dinner. All of the current presidents helped with the awards presentation to the children. All Poster and Essay winners were present with the exception of Colin Robinson (Sta. 15), who was on a cruise with his family. Jasper Lakey accepted the award for Colin and stated Colin will receive the award at the next company meeting on December 1. There were 30 awards given out this year, from grades kindergarten to 8th grade. The special topic for any grade had one essay entry and two poster entrees. The first place winner received a trophy along with a medallion, and a cash envelope with $50.00. The second place winner received a trophy along with a medallion and a cash envelope with $40.00. The third place winner received a trophy along with a medallion and a cash envelope with $30.00. Everyone had a very good time and we heard many compliments about the ceremony.
